Connecting Less to Claude Desktop has two parts:
  1. The connector - adds the Less MCP tools so Claude can reach your workspace.
  2. The skill - teaches Claude when and how to combine those tools for common jobs. Optional, but recommended.
You need a Less API key first. See Get a bearer token.

1. Add the connector

Point Claude Desktop at the Less MCP endpoint and authenticate with your API key.
1

Open connector settings

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
2

Enter the Less endpoint

Name it Less and use the URL:
The default workspace host is app.less.tech.
3

Authenticate

Select “No sign-in” and instead click ”+ Add header” under the request headers.TheHeader name should be Authorizationand the value should be:
4

Save and confirm

Save the connector. Claude lists the Less tools once it connects.

2. Add the skill

The skill lives in the public Less skills repository.
1

Download the repository

On GitHub, choose Code → Download ZIP and unzip it - or clone it:
The skill is the folder less/skills/less-workspace (it contains a SKILL.md and a references/ folder).
2

Add it to Claude

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Skills and add the less-workspace folder. Enable it once it appears.

Try it

Ask Claude something that needs your workspace:
Claude resolves the assets through Less, runs the analysis, and links back to the app. It will only start a run if you explicitly ask it to.
